We work directly with you to help make the event go smoothly for everyone —you, your staff, our team and most importantly, your audience.

Contact the Magic Circle ticket office to ask about hosting a murder mystery. We’ll be happy to meet with you to discuss details of your event.

DIFFERENCES between a STAGE SHOW and a MURDER MYSTERY

TIME Rehearses for 3-4 months prior to opening, 3-4 nights a week. Workshop/auditions 6-8 weeks prior to event. Rehearsals: 2 hours per week for four weeks.
SETS Cast/crew create, build, paint and decorate the sets. We have no sets or lighting
LINES Memorize lines verbatim and potentially LOTS of lines. Max of 15 lines/character. Your relationships with other characters is more important.

The hardest part is THE MINGLE — interacting with the audience while in character!

When a murder mystery is booked, we post a workshop/audition announcement and
audition material on the Magic Circle website. The workshop is about an hour, and we
train you on the mingle part of the show. After that, you read for any parts you want to
be considered for.

Initial rehearsals focus heavily on the mingling with some line reading. As time goes
on, we move into the lines which should be memorized (as delivered) by the third
rehearsal. Emphasis still continues on the mingle as it’s the trickiest part of the show.
